The
number of virtual and augmented reality devices could increase significantly in
2016, according to TrendForce. This market research firm has predicted sales of
virtual reality devices will reach 16 million this year, and most of
these gadgets will be used for gaming.
"VR hardware's market positioning is clearer than smart watches," says Jason Tsai, TrendForce's wearable device analyst. "Since VR device's strongest feature is providing users with an immersive audiovisual experience, its early application will be related to gaming."
