John 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit,
but test the spirits to see
whether they are from God,
because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
All of these groups are infested with false prophets, who teach that their way is the only way, and stir up hatred against outsiders. In fact, any group that claims to have a pipeline to the Creator of all is perverse, and counter to the spirit of life and truth. For a clear explanation of how the various religions actually honor one another through their scriptures, see https://interfaithlibrary.wordpress.com/2014/11/07/the-way-of-holiness-the-sacred-hoop/
All these outrageous perversions of scriptures have led many to reject their Author, a divine being or energy, which I will call Creator, a culturally neutral term. Nietzsche wrote "God is dead, and we have killed him." Actually, Creator is everywhere, and we are hardwired to be open to creative energy. By denying the Source of creativity, we cut ourselves off from the source of life, health and healing.
All of us who are fighting for life have high spiritual values, whether we think of it that way or not. We believe in truth, in accepting the truth of global warming and nuclear pollution. We are working toward healing, even when it means sacrifice of time, energy and money. We believe in justice and peace, and cooperating with others--attributes which all religions identify with divinity.
The predators motivated by the spirit of greed and profit are cynically using religions to infuse their followers with demonic energy, which they direct toward hatred, divisiveness and war. Thus the few who profit from war and exploitation are enriched.
We must see through this cynicism and renounce it, without losing our own connection to Creator. The fighters for peace and sanity can further empower ourselves by opening to divine creative energy. Then we will be encouraged, and have faith that good will triumph over evil, life over death. We must reclaim scriptures for ourselves, as they are full of inspiration and good advice, as well as giving us deeper ways to understand the great spiritual battle now taking place.
We have been blessed through the ages with spiritual leaders, who embody the godlike qualities described in scriptures. These are devout men and women who live out their beliefs. Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Pope Francis are good examples. The very existence of such people, and their ability to continue their work in the face of adversity, should convince us that they are sustained by a higher power.
What if all of us who are fighting for life were filled with divine creative energy? What if we were able to fight the perverting of scripture with a true understanding of the intent of holy words, to promote peace, justice and universal love? How much more quickly we would be able to stop the rush to destruction, and replace it with cooperative cleanup and healing!!
I'll close with two prophecies, one from the
Bible, and one from the Hopi:
Deuteronomy 30:19
19 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against
you that I have set before you life and death,
blessings and curses. Now choose
life, so that you and your children may live.
HOPI PROPHECY
To my fellow swimmers:
here is a river flowing now very fast.
It is so great and swift,
that there are those who will be afraid,
who will try to hold on to the shore,
they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly.
Know that the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore,
push off into the middle of the river,
and keep our heads above water.
And I say: see who is there with you and celebrate.
At this time in history we are to take nothing personally,
least of all ourselves, for the moment we do,
our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt.
The time of the lone wolf is over.
Gather yourselves.
Banish the word struggle from your attitude and vocabulary.
All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.
For we are the ones we have been waiting for.
