The Republicans, after Junior's rampage, knew another Republican could not get elected. So they did the next best thing. They found a black, first term Senator, and fed him visions of sugarplums until he was ready to say, do or promise anything if only he'd get to ride around in Air Force One.
The Republican King Makers immediately began crucifying the eager young president. Obama stayed loyal to the deal that he'd be the do nothing president of all time. Obama, very successfully, set out to destroy the World's support of his Presidency. He left his progressive base reeling in confusion as he kept many of Junior's appointees. Torture? Iraq and Afghanistan? The continuing transfer of the Nation's wealth to the richest Americans? Obama smartly exhausted any possibility of reclaiming a presidency stamped, sealed and delivered as helpless.
The 2 plus trillion tossed to the perpetually greedy fat guys, that should have been spent repairing the Nation's infrastructure, and creating jobs, focused Obama's attention. His perfectly predictable response was another eloquent, soothing and meaningless rhetorical antic.
