Mubarak's giant ego, perhaps, permits no other end than the dramatic and traumatic one now unfolding daily in Tahrir Square, as if he really is the Egyptian embodiment of Dracula, actually Set, ancient Egyptian Lord of Darkness, who only knows how to communicate to the "peasants" of his kindgom with grotesque violence and buckets of blood.
Mubarak, after his Tuesday "I will resign in my own good time" speech in front of the Egyptian people, punctuated with his defiant oath to die on Egyptian soil, next invoked his "Children of the Night", one can easily intuit, to attack peaceful anti-Mubarak protesters early Wednesday morning, February 2nd:

They must become steadfast warriors, just as Horus, Divine Son of Isis and Osiris, thus arose to avenge his parents:
And so the battle continues, even into the night:
How will this end? We can imagine that both sides will be reinforced this Thursday and Friday. Will the Egyptian Army continue to simply stand by, actually tipping their hats to the Mubarak regime by this giant sin of omission.
We do know, however, how the myth ends:
