Communitarianism involves building intentional community. As elementary school districts are given incentives to become autonomous, then communities can become so close-knit that they could be considered tribal, which in the age of the internet would not lead to parochial hatred of outside groups. Ideally there could be organic, composted gardens in front yards and backyards of a neighborhood. Veganism can be encouraged for ethical, health, and environmental reasons.

A five-thousand-year period of patriarchal or male-dominated civilization has brought many creature comforts and technological improvements, but it has morally and socially failed miserably. The monotheistic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) have encouraged the subduing of the earth, the domination and exploitation of Mother Earth and women--which may be one reason why we have such an environmental crisis today. Feminism would encourage males to be more nurturing and empathetic. Thankfully there are emerging elements within the monotheistic religions (such as Progressive Christianity) that are now encouraging non-dual states of awareness. This allows them to directly experience the divine source within, as a preference to the earlier emphasis on statements of faith and creeds to prove one's salvation.

This new list of Ten Key Values and Goals provides a new vision for our nation. It provides a radical remedy that could become universally popular, as capitalism and the environment rapidly unravel, as people become desperate for hope. Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein could win the 2020 election on the Green Party ticket, if the Greens can start getting their act together to bring more people into the fold.

October 9, 2019: I grew up in a church that said you had to speak in tongues to get saved and go to heaven. I often prayed fervently for the experience in the prayer room at church, where people would cry and wail, and roll on the floor. (more...)
