Conclusion
The "mostly Republican" members of the COS cannot bring about a convention alone. In order to have a reasonable chance of success, the COS must become a multi-party project. This necessity places a heavy responsibility upon our Democratic shoulders. We must urge our state senators and representatives to make the COS a multi-party project.
Making the COS a multi-party project is not a "pipe dream." While rank-and-file Republicans and Democrats may disagree on the "social issues,' all of us ordinary Americans would like to see a more honest and democratic federal government. The Levin book on The Liberty Amendments , suggests that this is the case. His proposed amendments are surprisingly similar to those proposed in Chap. 10 of my Reversing America's Decline . Two of them for example, have to do with congressional term limits and a balanced budget.
