If these right-wing groups ever took the time to read King Benjamin's address in Mosiah, 4th Nephi (both in the Book of Mormon) or parts of the Doctrine and Covenants (like D&C 42: 30 - "And behold, thou wilt remember the poor, and consecrate of thy properties for their support that which thou hast to impart unto them, with a covenant and a deed which cannot be broken."), they would ignore the fact that the principals being taught are the same as those in the Bible and declare all "Mormons" socialists too.

The Democrats also need a better plan. T he Democrats trying to please the too-far-right in this country will never work. Once the right-wingers on Fox News and in the Tea Party declared the left the "communist" enemy, comparing leaders in the party to Hitler and Stalin, to agree with them would make themselves the enemy. The only way the Democrats can win any compromise would be to come in stronger with what they want, make it too left. Let the right have their say and then compromise with them. By starting in the middle, or even on the right as they have been, Republicans are being driven even further into Crazy-ville to escape looking "leftist." This is only making matters worse.

We can have hope for real change in this country, but to do it we have to show relevance to what we are doing and stick to a strategy that works. Fixing the damage both parties have caused over the last 3 decades will not happen overnight. If the right-wingers in the nation won't work with us, the left needs to work smarter. If the left just pushes the right-wing agenda to keep the peace, there will be no peace. If the right doesn't take it down a notch, the extremists will keep getting worse. We need to work find a way to work together, even if the parties have to pretend like we're not.
