The right is vote is fundamental to democracy, and yet something so straightforward is lacking in the country that claims to be one of the freest and most democratic in the world. People are outraged about this because voting is the one instance every four years when they have the briefest of moments to have a voice. Taking this right away from people is nothing short of appalling. An honest audit is the only way to fairly represent the voting wishes of New Yorkers, thousands of whom were denied their most basic right as US citizens. It's time that relationships and behind-the-scene deals between politicians and others in power no longer dictate who remains in power. Nothing about this dynamic is representative of true democracy.
