This is not normal, folks, and of course we are all jaded! Of course we predict evil futures and mayhem and chaos!
But we are forgetting one thing. Most politicians--bought off as they may be--are not as crazy as all that! They may be unethical, but still they are not abnormal murdering types who giggle the words "I am a war president" on camera (Fahrenheit 911).
So if we are jaded it's understandable. However, I want to urge the negaholics on this forum to consider one thing:
But the fact is that the essence is always there. And it's to be seen everywhere we walk. Civilians who are as unethical as those in public office are actually rare, if you look around you.
Let's please not let the Press sway our picture of reality. We are looking at "reality" under a microscope, zooming the lense in on the worst of all the darkness.
Criminals we read about in the newspapers are the exceptions and not the norm. The press only reports about them because sensationalism sells.
Let's not lose our perspective please. Most people desire to do good. That's the core reality.
I believe those who immediately shoot down positivity as "polyanna" are very wrong.
Call me innocent if you like, but I don't believe I am living in denial of the facts. I not only acknowledge the reality of light and dark, I indeed write about the dark all the time, blowing the whistle even when a lot of people wouldn't.
"Those who call others silly are being silly themselves" said my mother as I was growing up. Those who spoof off positivity are only confessing their own negativity. And to be perfectly honest, those people are the ones who earn their non-credibility, certainly in my eyes. I have learned not to let those negatively-oriented ranters rule my thinking anymore. Time is too precious to waste, and reality calls! "Reality", this time, being defined ultimately and on a core level by good---yes! Such a concept.
It may be commonly said that love is blind. I say that love sees. It sees the highest self in each of us. And that *is* the ultimate reality of who we are.
And the truth always wins. Let's not forget that WWII came to an end. The Holocaust came to an end. Republicans had to resign en masse, out of embarrassment to themselves. Republican citizens en masse defected and voted across the party lines. The wrong-doings of the wrong-doers does come back to haunt them and eventually it does pull them down. And it will. It will only take time. But it will happen.
(FYI I also believe that Democrats in public office have done lots of wrongs too).
To conclude, what I am saying is that "reality"-based thinking includes the light. Lots of it. To laugh it off is to not see the whole picture.
