But is this not magical thinking? Sure solutions to our problems and issues are known, but that is not possible as long as this corporate controlled plutocracy of oligarchs continues to exist in this country.

The whole system would need to be overhauled and turned on its head which requires big money-corporate, individual and anonymous sources-be outlawed as these sources have essentially taken over the electoral process, the puppets they select to run and get elected who then control the political agenda to enact the laws, regulations, oversight and enforcement that goes to the benefit of their financial backers. Right now it's a completely rigged game and as old George Carlin would say, "We're not in it".

So the key is eliminating the root cause of big money [1] interests controlling the entire electoral, political process and agenda. It is the essential ingredient that has to happen before ANY serious solutions to our problems and issues could happen.

That may seem oversimplified to overcome such a herculean task but nothing of any consequence can ever be achieved leaving the current system in place.

What is so galling it didn't have to be this way.

[1] Thus far 16 states and over a hundred cities and municipalities have passed legislation and forward it to Congress asking for an Amendment to the Constitution overturning Citizens United, the SCOTUS ruling in January 2010 that unleashed the floodgate of corporate money to overwhelm and completely corrupt the electoral process. Last year the Senate voted and failed to pass an enactment clause to overturn Citizens United. Though efforts seem stalled a groundswell persists for an Amendment as the last mid term Congressional elections had some $4 billion spent with over $1 billion of "dark money" coming from anonymous sources.
