Cold winter is contagious. It claims many victims. With all of the above explanations, why are all the locals so upset, then, and demanding answers? Why has death seemed inordinately contagious in the last few weeks?
Why more fish than birds? Because the water is more polluted than the sky? Because pollution in waters is more contagious, especially with 200 million or so gallons of BP oil swirling around? This non-expert believes that global warming has caused this deep freeze as much as it caused too-warm winters in the recent past.
Is that the ultimate reason for this [seemingly] sudden surge of die-outs? Will enough experts care to get to the root of that age-old question, "Why?"
To quote my favorite modern author, Kurt Vonnegut (r.i.p.):
Fish gotta swim,
Birds gotta fly,
Man's gotta sit and wonder "Why, oh why?"
