Whether you believe as most Democratic Senators do that Kavanaugh lied repeatedly in the hearings will soon be a moot point. The fact that there is evidence that he was the recipient of stolen Democratic Senate Judiciary Committee documents during the "W" Bush presidency is of no consequence.
We saw a game played out in real time. One of the many that is symbolic of our warped political landscape.
The real sorrow of it all is that victims of physical and sexual abuse took a great "slap in the face" because US Senators are about to approve a nominee to the Supreme Court amid virtually uninvestigated rape allegations against him.
What message does this send to all Americans, young and old about our justice system? Particularly as we know that charges of sexual predation are greatly under reported, more often not prosecuted and frequently end up hurting the accuser more than the accused.
Shame on the Republicans for their partisan votes and on the Democrats for not pushing hard enough, making sufficient noise and perhaps unintentionally helping to reinforce the notion that if you've been abused, you might just be better off keeping your mouth shut!
It's time to protest. It's time to take whatever action is necessary to help move America back on course to develop a sense of morality and justice.
