The major virtue of each of the three systems I have suggested is the way they discourage the two party system by giving minority consensus candidates a real opportunity to win. With any of them, it seems likely that the two-party system would, in time, be replaced by a robust multiple-party system with a more active competition of ideas and maybe even better cooperation among our politicians.
