Let it Play Out

Of course you would. That's because you're directly involved. It's an issue that directly affects you, your loved ones, your home and your community.

To complicate matters, you've been taught to believe that you live in a Democracy (capital "D"), and that the essence of a democracy is a gov't that serves the needs of the majority of its people. If a majority of people decide they don't want an oil pipeline running through their community, then the gov't is required to act accordingly. Right? No oil pipeline. Right? That's what you've been taught to believe.

But of course you'd be wrong.

A gov't of, for and by the people does not exist. It's a fairy tale told to children to distract them from their poor living conditions and the latest war -- like when Catholics talk about heaven. In the real world, the US gov't is a fully-functioning subsidiary of corporate America and has absolutely no interest in serving the interests of "the people." It's been documented.

Obama's Language: "Let it play out."

Obama's Meaning: "It's not the gov't's job to protect ordinary citizens. And I simply cannot afford to alienate the corporations that control my agenda. Besides, this is all just a game, you know, one of those fun things folks sometimes do, and both the police and the protestors are 'playing' this game, and certainly when they stop 'playing' maybe then the gov't will think about getting involved. For now, we're going to pretend nothing important is happening ... even when cops shoot water cannons at peaceful protestors in 26Ëš weather."

Heartless. Brutal. Condescending. And flat-out wrong, historically speaking.

It's Obama's "heckava job, Brownie" moment, the postmodern equivalence of "let them eat cake" and a snapshot of how Obama uses language to hide a rotted, monstrous form. Quelle surprise! The six-war-assassin who continues to bomb the citizens of Libya and Yemen and Syria and Palestine indiscriminately now unleashes the dogs of war on his own citizens, playing golf while North Dakota burns. While Chicago burns. While San Antonio burns. While Detroit burns. Shall it go on?

Yes yes I know. It's the part Obama was (s)elected to play.

Help corporations hoard. Keep the pitchforks at bay.

There's no other way, they say. There's just no other way.

Still ...

How could such a noble cause find measure in such a massive fraud? To masquerade in silks and satins, the banksters, the religious shams, the corporate dregs, the secretive elites?

Here's where a thoughtful citizen might be tempted to work within the existing system. Elect. Enact. Enforce. Send people to Congress who believe in progressive ideas. When enough progressives have been elected, pass laws that help workers and the middle class. Once those laws are on the books, make sure everyone acts accordingly. If some big-shot bankster or Wall Street smart-ass tries to skirt the law, as they have a tendency to do, prosecute them to the fullest extent.

Then again there just might be another way. Why not bring them down? Bring them all down, I say. Like a house that's rotted to its core, the roof will give way to the floor. To hell with letting it "play out." Better to start over. Take control. Sell off their mansions and their yachts and their foreign chalets, cash in their hedge funds and their investments portfolios and their off-shore accounts and give all the proceeds to the people they ripped off.

Then throw them in prison. Make them all pay.

Bring on the apocalypse. It's the only way.
