When my Mother became sick, I had to pawn the title of my car. (See Footnotes - and don’t make the mistake I did.) I don’t have the payment that is due in two weeks, so to finish us off, we won’t have a vehicle soon, and this story is being repeated millions of times throughout the United States. There are times when I feel that some of our issues with family services is politically motivated, as I live in an extremely “Red” county in Northern Georgia - however, I have no proof to substantiate that allegation. They know who I am, and I have seen the visible contempt when people find out who I am.

Yes, my Social Security income would suffice for me to live fairly well - as I receive $975.00 per month. Our rent is $800.00 per month, and when we found a cheaper place to live, we discovered that it was another electric company which required a large deposit, a deposit for the propane, and we didn’t have the money to hire the labor or the truck to get us moved. I figured that since I was head of the household, I would at least be able to claim the children and receive a tax credit - but I don’t make enough to pay taxes, therefore no “Earned Income Tax Credit” for a family that will soon be on the streets. The language by President Obama and the Senate suggests that only the people who pay taxes on their Social Security income will be eligible for the stimulus checks that will soon roll out of Washington, so based on what I’ve heard, and the pressure being applied by the GOP, we won’t qualify for that either…

One thing is certain; my sister and her children are not throw-away people! I cannot, in good conscience, allow them to be homeless without being there myself, offering whatever help and support I can. There’s an old adage, and believe me, it’s true. “No good deed goes unpunished!”

2. Was Dr. Graves innocent or guilty?

I worked undercover on and off for several years for several federal and state agencies, usually in sting operations. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, I was recruited by a local high ranking officer and he was accompanied by the FBI whom was a member of a larger task force. I was first approached to work myself into an organized crime ring, which I have always refused to work - as I consider it to be a death sentence. As a secondary job, I was asked to aid the Feds and local authorities in busting physicians whom they believed were “selling” narcotics prescriptions. I have a visible break in my lumbar spine and three ruptured cervical discs, so when it comes to pain clinics, I’m a shoo-in to receive pain medications. I expressed my outrage that they would even consider me for such an assignment; based on my physical condition, if a Doctor wrote me a prescription for pain medication - in my eyes it would be perfectly legal and using me in that capacity was nothing more than illegal entrapment. I was so angry, that a couple of months later, I sued the DEA for their behavior in past sting operations that I had been involved in; Was Dr. Graves innocent or guilty? I have no idea, but based on the DEA’s lack of ethics in attempting to arrest Doctors for treating chronic pain patients, I am suspicious of any actions they take.

3. Pawning the title of your vehicle.

It was over two years ago when I pawned the title of my vehicle, which obviously was paid in full. The constant medical bills and rise in gas prices only allowed me to pay the interest as each monthly payment became due. I pawned it for $2,400.00; since that date, I have paid over $5,280 in interest - and I still owe $2,300.00! DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID, AS YOU MAY FIND YOURSELF IN A BOTTOMLESS HOLE!
