Bristol Palin--since Gov. Palin decided that we will debate political eligibility in a world where the Bible is law--has sinned; she has forfeited the kingdom of God. This is your standard for us, Gov. Palin. This is the standard that applies to liberals. And, in your case, the Bible finds that you, Gov. Palin, are to blame:
"For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows, because his sons made themselves vile, and he did not restrain them." (1 Samuel 3:13)
And how dare Palin abandon her special-needs-infant, Trig, in her selfishly ambitious bid for Vice President?
"That they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed." (Titus 2:4-2:5)
Palin is blaspheming the word of God in her bid for Vice President. How can she be a homemaker if she's self-interestedly jet-setting around the country?
No Evangelical can argue with these passages. Evangelicals must surely realize that in supporting Sarah Palin they are following not the Word of God but rather the insidious agenda of their politically-connected pastors:
"The Palins," Republican-connected Focus on the Family pastor James Dobson issued in a statement last week, "should be commended once again for not just talking about their pro-life and pro-family values, but living them out even in the midst of trying circumstances."
Living them out? If Dobson's Focus on [your] Family [instead of their own] empire has anything other than a political agenda, it eludes reason. The statement is proof that Dobson and his co-conspirators will warp the interpretation of the Bible in order to execute a Republican agenda bent on attaining absolute power.
In his statement on Palin it seems like Dobson's not one to judge. However, in a letter to the Daily Oklahoman, Dobson called Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy a "God's-people hater."
When ABC's George Stephanopoulos reflected that the insult wasn't a particularly Christian thing to say, pride reared its ugly head: "George," Dobson scoffed, "you think you ought to lecture me on what a Christian is all about?"
No, Mr. Dobson. You're immune from criticism. Only you can interpret God's will. Kind of like the Pope.
Gov. Palin is fond of saying that Obama uses change to promote his career while McCain uses his career to promote change. Well Palin uses the Bible to promote her public service while Obama uses his public service to promote the teachings of the Bible.
Let's take an unflinching look at John McCain via the Bible:
John McCain's first wife, Carol, looked after their three children during McCain's five years of imprisonment in Vietnam. Upon returning, however, McCain discovered that his wife was disfigured by a car accident that shattered her arm and pelvis. McCain divorced Carol and married Cindy and then launched his political career with Cindy's family's money.
What does the Bible have to say about divorce? "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery." (Matthew 19:9)
"For the Lord God of Israel says that He hates divorce, for it covers one's garments with violence, says the Lord of hosts." (Malachi 2:16)
