If it is idealistic to expect that American foreign policy in the third world will change any time soon, it is equally idealistic to expect that the relatively tranquil day to day life in the countries of the west will remain unaffected. Human rights will be curtailed as we've seen in airports in the US and the UK as the price citizens have to pay for not resisting what their governments are doing outside their borders. If in the end ISIS is defeated, it will not be because of the drones or the aerial bombing. It is because the Muslim Arab on the street is convinced that neither Islam nor his way of life is threatened. To work in that direction should be the goal of all well-meaning people.
