This affects over 65 million people in the United States. It is often termed the "silent killer" because many people that have it are unaware of their condition. Being overweight or obese is one of the risk factors. Hypertension can cause heart attack, stroke, and damage to eyesight or blindness. If you are overweight you should speak to your doctor and get on a program to measure your blood pressure at regular intervals.

HIGH CHOLESTEROL

We know that weight is one of the risk factors of high cholesterol. This is when abnormally high levels of fats build up in the blood. This can lead to heart attacks.

CERTAIN CANCERS

SLEEP APNEA

This is a common disorder for people that are overweight and is characterized by interruption in breathing while asleep. Each pause usually lasts from 10 to 20 seconds and can occur 20 to 30 times an hour. This can cause people to feel very tied during the day, have a loss of concentration and generally affect your performance. It can also lead to depression, sexual dysfunction and high blood pressure.
