Finally, the cowboy mentality of the Bush administration is still costing us in a way that I believe threatens our existence as a nation. The signing statements in which Bush declared he would not enforce the law; the suspension of regulatory enforcement in hundreds of areas, secret meetings, disappearing documents, not to mention torture and rendition set a tone of lawlessness and entitlement. The right wing clearly now believes that elections do not matter. If they don't like the vote, then they won't accept it; if they don't like a law, they won't obey it. Witness the Birthers, the governors who have ordered their attorneys general to file suit against implementing health care reform; the wild statements of Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann and many Tea Party candidates that barely skirt advocating violence. No one can prove that the Bush years are responsible for this ungodly division and partisanship and I can see Jeb Bush who is generally a pretty reasonable person turn purple at the thought. Therefore, I concede that this last paragraph merely represents my opinion. Even so Jeb, blaming your brother for the state of our world is not childishness on the part of Obama, but the truth. Your brother may have enabled our destruction and it is past time to call him to account.
