"I'm a better filmmaker than activist," adds Østergaard. "But if the film has any real world impact and helps create change, that of course delights me. We obviously hoped to win the Oscar so as to increase that impact worldwide but that didn't happen, so the best people can do now for Burma is to keep faith in the coming change."Note: In addition to receiving an Oscar nomination, Anders Østergaard's documentary BURMA VJ: REPORTING FROM A CLOSED COUNTRY won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2009 Full Frame Documentary Festival, the International Human Rights Film Award at the 2009 Berlin Film Festival and an award for World Cinema Documentary Film Editing at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.
