Averting War With Iran: Employ a MAD Policy towards a Mad Regime

-         MAD - PR campaign directed at Iran. The message too being one of “retaliation without restraint”.

-         I2 (“I Two” - Isolate Iran) - Leverage its global WEAST allies to isolate Iran until it decides to become a responsible member of the international community, which is not likely until Ahmadinejad is gone. MAD + I2 will help expedite that change of leadership as the Iranian people feel the growing pain and put increasing pressure on the government.

The “Plus 6” effect is a very real and very serious byproduct consequence of an Iranian nuclear attack on Israel, which has not been picked up or mentioned by the mainstream media, nor any of those 6 neighboring nations themselves. Israel’s pitch then is MAD to Iran and to the other 6 Arab countries, “if we (Israel) get attacked, your nation and people are not immune. In fact, given Israel’s tiny size and your resultant close proximity to any nuclear detonation on Israeli soil, you will suffer devastating nuclear fallout and/or blast damage from Iran’s nuclear actions too. It’s therefore in your best interests to pro-actively send your own message to Ahmadinejad - Don’t”.

While Israel has always effectively denied the existence of nuclear weapons, it has no choice any longer but to publicly and forcefully announce that it does possess nuclear weapons and fully prepared and ready to use them if attacked by Iran or any other threatening regime. In doing so, Israel sends the message “don’t even think about it”, which Ahmadinejad has not yet but needs to hear, because as of today, he is in fact, “seriously thinking about it”.

Today’s test launch of (9) upgraded long range Shahab-3 ballistic missiles, which Iranian officials claim a range of 1,250 miles, but one case in point. Too, a public relations campaign directed at the people of those 6 bordering Arab nations that they will suffer too by way of nuclear fallout, from Iran’s own nuclear actions. This will then put pressure on those respective country leaders to also put pressure on Ahmadinejad and ditto Israel’s “don’t even think about it” message.

Therefore, the solution to this crisis is not as one U.S. Presidential candidate makes irresponsible light of, suggesting to a famous Beach Boys tune to “bomb bomb Iran ”, but rather a very strong statement (and PR campaign with its Arab neighbors) by Israel “if you launch, you Mr. Ahmadinejad can be assured Iran will be obliterated from the map too”.

Effectively stating “If you destroy us, you will never enjoy your victory. We have our entire nuclear weapon inventory targeted to blanket Iran”. In fact, a derivative historical “die for liberty” statement, arguably harking back to precedent from what heroically took place at Masada in the first century AD. During this engagement of the first Jewish-Roman War, all 900 or so Jewish Sicarii holdouts committed suicide for no other reason than to dutifully not fall into their enemy’s (Roman) hands, who with vastly superior numbers, were storming the mountain fortress.

While Ahmadinejad coldly and callously dismisses the Holocaust of World War II, Israel is ironically in position now to assure a holocaust Ahmadinejad can’t deny or avoid, a nuclear one of Iran.

Ahmadinejad’s Achilles heel is his ego. His visions of grandeur and personal megalomaniacal goal is to be viewed in history as the ultimate Persian King or leader. Not unlike Sadaam Hussein seeking to be the modern day reincarnation of Saladin.

Iran in total ruins would leave him a legacy anything but. He would then in total shame, take King Darius’ place in Persian history as the leader who lost the Persian Empire, this time forever. While Darius was defeated by the tiny nation state of Macedonia and its legendary leader Alexander the Great, Ahmadinejad would lose to a country a fraction of Iran’s size too, yet to an elected leader of historical insignificance, whenever it occurred. And worst of all, his country forever lost to history, never able to be inhabited or rise again.

With this new and substantive message sent by Israel (and the 6 Arab nations), Ahmadinejad will promptly begin to temper his unrestrained rhetoric and behavior – and most importantly, intent. Yes, he’ll ultimately obtain nuclear weapons, but the increasing threat Israel (and the U.S.) now feels, will disappear with Ahmadinejad's lost resolve to ever use them.

And with that, the need for an Israeli attack and/or U.S. war with Iran will disappear too.

Bottom line, Israel’s long term survival, as well as the U.S. averting war with Iran is incumbent upon a fundamental change in attitude and behavior. For both, their respective new strategy and related policies build upon and pivot off Israel’s need to employ a 4th option in dealing with Iran.

That is, stop denying and start acting MAD.
