Below is a photograph of an American soldier from Manahawkin, New Jersey. He was killed in Iraq on August 6, 2007. On an earlier tour, he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Bronze Star. Today, a headstone in Arlington National Cemetery marks his grave. Although from the Garden State, he was an ardent Dallas Cowboys fan who also loved Disneyworld in Orlando.
Look at his photograph. Tell me please, what is his ethnic genealogy? Is there some of the Hawaiian Islands in his background? Perhaps a surfer? Or, maybe he’s got some Sicilian in his blood. He’s a pretty good looking fellow; deep dark brown eyes, great facial features.
Well, how about this: The mortally wounded soldier’s name is Kareem Rashad Sultan Kahn. Corporal E-4 Kahn was a 20-year old Muslim when he gave his life for HIS country, for you, and for me. Khan’s life was just as precious to his family, and to himself as anyone else’s is to anyone else.
Please, I truly am begging each and all to pass this along, and when you encounter anyone — in your family or out of it — smearing someone by race or ethnicity or religion, accusing him or her as perhaps a Muslim, do not just stand there silently.
