Let's face it. US duplicity in its foreign affairs is a fact. It has shown it can't be trusted to uphold its end to any bargain. The 2015 nuclear deal with Iran is a case in point. Obama signs onto it in 2015 and Trump reneges on it in 2018.
Now the US is in Vienna with other signatories to the deal attempting to mediate and revive it. Biden and his crowd have thrown a roadblock to re-implementing the deal accusing Iran of enriching uranium above the limits set in 2015-something Iran is legally able to do when Trump unilaterally withdrew the US. Iran meanwhile says it will not renegotiate any deal until the US drops all sanctions on it. Thus the impasse.
The main problem resides with the US. It's the one issuing threats, accusations, sanctions, reneging on international agreements. The negotiations between adversaries requiring them to compromise was extremely difficult to achieve in 2015. It'll be harder in 2021.
Iran legitimately distrusts the US. Iran is adamant all US sanctions must be dropped before it will consider re-entering the deal.
Russia as a signatory to the deal-and an ally with Iran in the war in Syria-could help in the Vienna talks to get the deal re-implemented. The same with China. Will they help?
In 2015 Russia and China as members of the UN Security Council-along with the US, Britain, France and Germany P5+1 -all agreed a nuclear deal with Iran was in everyone's interest.
The same could be said today. That's if Biden's latest statement of "dialogue and diplomatic process" has any real meaning when it comes to lifting all sanctions against Iran so they'll agree to getting the nuclear deal with Iran re-implemented.
Everything considered I believe Putin's Russia and Xi's China will act magnanimously and help get the deal re-implemented.
