We need a vision that addresses this discrepancy that describes how we can make do with less while bringing into manifestation a new society in which life can become more meaningful, ultimately more satisfying, more deeply spiritual (without devolving into religious dogmatism), and more in tune with our values even if -- and maybe because -- our material comforts are reduced.
We need to feel that we are working together with people all over the world to bring down rising temperatures, reduce carbon-dioxide overload in the atmosphere, manage other climate pollutants, and learn to live more simply, in concert with the earth and what She provides.
Coping with climate change could be the opportunity we have
been looking for to transform our lifestyle to reflect our highest human
capabilities. Yes, we should have started decades ago, but we didn't. Now it's
the eleventh hour. If we don't act now our children and grandchildren will
suffer the ominous, unbearable results.
But if we do act -- if we find the will to push back against the idiots now in power -- we may see something beyond our wildest dreams, a world of harmonious relationships, happy children, beautiful gardens, and satisfying work.
We could attain the highest good we have imagined possible across the ages, and thereby redeem ourselves from the ignorance and suffering of the recorded past.
Is there anything else worth doing as cruel patriarchy grinds to a staggering halt?
