As African American, we carried capitalism on our backs. When enslaved African Americans rose in the morning with the sun, so did capitalism. Throughout the years of auction blocks, market exchanges and deals, throughout the years of legalized segregation and forced labor on cotton fields, throughout the years of incarceration disparity, redlining, "urban renewal," gentrification, you name it, we have carried capitalism on our backs.
And we're tired, and, for the planet, time is running out.
