What Americans didn't see, however, was the senseless death, maiming, carnage or horrors of war.
This was reflected in the polling with ABC News/Washington Post indicating a staggering 79% support for the Persian Gulf War. All of this to the military Industrial complex's and Pentagon's delight. Americans were as it seems, completely gullible and more than willing to support Imperialism without question.
The war on terror and the military investment in propaganda
An expanding military role in pro-war propaganda didn't occur until the War on Terror was initiated by George W. Bush in March of 2003. In retaliation for the terrorist attacks of 9/11 GW in his infinite wisdom decided to ruthlessly attack two nations which had absolutely nothing to do with it.
