Reading "Vault 7: CIA Hacking Tools Revealed" [1] as released by WikiLeaks is like being exposed to some cyber dark corner of hell.
To this reader, the CIA's uses of "malware, viruses, trojans, weaponized 'zero day' exploits, malware remote and control systems", appears to be just another extension to the sordid machinations the agency has been conducting since its inception in 1947 by President Harry Truman as the successor to the wartime OSS, Office of Strategic Services in WWII.
Which brings the essential question: With all its known direct involvement in assassinations, overthrowing legitimately elected governments, conducting drone attacks and missile strikes that kill innocents(collateral damage), engaging in torture (enhanced interrogation techniques), training and arming al Qaeda mercenary jihadists in Syria, essentially engaging in activities against the Constitution its members swore to uphold, what possible reason exists to justify its continued existence? There are none. It should be abolished.
That it won't is sad testament to elevation of the unelected Deep State to the pinnacle of power in the US which includes the CIA, NSA, the other intelligence agencies, Homeland Security, the Justice Department, the heads of the military/industrial/political complex, select chairman of Congressional committees, ex-generals and admirals, select heads of corporations, the MSM, Silicon Valley et al.
Whatever moral image the US has ever exhibited-and that's a stretch considering slavery, the genocide of the indigenous nations placing the descendants onto reservations, its aggression against Mexico, depicting western expansion as "Manifest Destiny" as if it was the natural, inevitable expansion "from sea to shining sea" and all the other propaganda bromides passed on to a gullible US population-is further tainted by the CIA that's managed to bring even greater animosity of the world toward the US.
Trump talked about "draining the swamp" during the presidential campaign which of course included the CIA but with the Michael Flynn episode and Trump firing him as National Security Advisor, it became clear the Deep State had gotten its way as Trump folded like a cheap suit doing their bidding.
Now with H.R. McMaster succeeding Flynn, James Mattis as Secretary of Defense, Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State, Nikki Haley as the UN Ambassador and all fulminating against Iran, Russia and China, there appears no essential change in US foreign policy from the previous two presidential administrations.
It's sad most Americans are either oblivious to US machinations in the world, are indifferent and insouciant to our sinister foreign entanglements or aware of them but choose to ignore them.
So the Deep State with a rogue CIA doing the dirty work knows it can act with impunity not being held accountable for the sinister machinations it carries out.
Right now the US represents a democracy in name only. The Constitution all but shredded with a Congress beholden to big money donors that underwrite their campaigns, enacting legislation, regulations, oversight and enforcement to the benefit of those big moneyed interests.
Lest it be said, it was the Congress the founders gave the most governing authority, intentionally making for a weak chief executive, giving Congress the sole authority to declare war and avoiding foreign entanglements.
The Congress we have now does not represent the interests of the people who elected them.
The people must recognize the Congress is the one entity that could change the direction of the country and make it of, by and for the people.
Thus it's up to the American people to demand Congress represent them and their interests.
