No one could make this up. The story is too bizarre, and
shows how much you can accomplish by spending a few million dollars on
politicians and lobbyists blinded by greed. The plot is worthy of Tom Clancy.
Some politicians and leaders in the U.S. and Europe are planning to impose a regime change in Iran, replacing the Shia-Mullah regime with the most notorious extremist Islamic terrorist organization of the past 50 years, the Mujahedin-e-Khalq.
Read that again.
These Western "leaders" are ready to go to war to replace Shia-Mullahs with a Shia terrorist cult responsible for literally thousands of terrorist attacks and assassinations. These "leaders" were paid from $15,000 to $150,000 by the Mujahedin to promote this insane idea in public speeches in the U.S and Europe, to their governments, and in the press.
Politicians and prominent officials in the U.S. and Europe accepted large speaking fees and political contributions to advocate for terrorists. In the U.S., Democrats and Republicans alike took the money, including Rudi Giuliani, John Bolton, Tom Ridge, Ed Rendell, Howard Dean, Bill Richardson, Patrick Kennedy, Louis Freeh, Michael Mukasey, General Hugh Shelton, Prof. Alan Dershowitz, among a large number of prominent politicians and professors. They gave speeches written by the terrorists whose money paid for them to do so. The speeches supported these same terrorists as the best replacement for the Shia-Mullah regime in Iran. Thus, with only a few million dollars, a terrorist organization has gained serious influence over U.S. policy.
The purpose of this article is to help American and European politicians avoid a disastrous mistake in policy towards Iran, which could destroy the economy of the civilized world overnight and condemn the Middle East, Russia, America and Europe to endless war. Well-intentioned Western politicians, acting in ignorance and trusting their colleagues, could end the world as we know it, forever.
The Mujahedin-e-Khalq-e Iran (People's Mujahedin of Iran), a.k.a. MEK or simply "Mujahedin" (who very recently re-branded themselves as the National Council of Resistance of Iran or NCRI) was listed by American and European governments as a terrorist organization for many years.
The MEK gained notoriety as fierce fighters on the side of Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran's 1979 revolution, but soon proved to be too vicious even for Khomeini, who executed their leaders and exiled some 3,000 members to Iraq in 1980. The MEK became Saddam Hussein's proteges and fought against Iran in the Iran-Iraq War (1980-88) while implementing a full calendar of terrorist activities for Saddam and other clients, including killing some Iranian nuclear scientists for Israel's Mossad.
Always well-financed with laundered funds from hazy sources (including Saddam Hussein, and more recently the Saudis and the U.S. among others), for years the MEK spread money around like honey in Washington, Paris and other power centers. The object was to buy their way off the list of terrorist organizations so they could try to brand the MEK as the rightful government to replace the Shia-Mullahs in Iran--and to persuade the Americans and their allies to depose the Mullahs and put the MEK in power, which could only happen with military action. This ignores the fact that Iranians see the MEK as the worst kind of traitors for their service to Iraq fighting Iran.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's signature removed the MEK from the U.S. list of terrorist organizations in 2012.
Politicians taking money to give speeches in support of stupid ideas, written by their sponsors, are nothing new, but this was outrageous even in Washington terms. The U.S. Treasury launched an investigation into the series of high-priced speeches promoting an organization that was on the terrorist list, and whether that money was paid by the terrorists directly, or whether it was sufficiently dry-cleaned that the recipients could keep it and not face charges.
In any event, now some European and American leaders are calling for "regime change in Iran" in favor of this terrorist organization, which implies ridding Iran of the Shia-Mullah and installing the new government by military force. With some openly advocating war with Iran and others believing war with Iran is inevitable, it is important that policymakers at least be aware of these facts.

The MEK/"NCRI" terrorist organization is a radical Shia cult headed by Masoud and Mariam Rajavi. With Masoud out of sight for some years, rumored to be dead or confined to a wheelchair, his wife is in charge and is proposed (by the MEK themselves and their paid advocates) as president in a new regime. The well-financed, 50 year old top-tier fundamentalist Islamic international terrorist organization has always had a flair for marketing. When 1,500 Mujahedin were killed fighting against Iran (which Iranians have never forgotten), the MEK bragged that due to the leadership of the Rajavis, the MEK had provided 1,500 martyrs!
The MEK/"NCRI" has worked hard and spent millions to reinvent its image with some success. Its website seems to be written by Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. As described earlier, in recent years they have paid millions in "speaking fees" to politicians and prominent leaders in the U.S. and other countries to build up a favorable image.
