This is a lengthy article, that I had to read twice, but it is remarkably well documented and points directly to so much of what is going on in the world, and much of the history of it. I have communicated with Paul Craig Roberts on several occasions, and in one reply, he recommended Ron Unz, for more details on this general subject; this is from the Ron Unz site, prior to being posted on informationclearinghouse.info. Given Netanyahu's recent election, I find it particularly relevant. If anyone finds 'anti-semitism' in it, I truly seek and encourage the reasons for considering it as such.

I once rented an apartment in Toronto from someone who I though was just a crude, ignorant old man. One day, while I was helping him clean out a clogged drain, he surprised me by blaming whatever current crisis was going on in Canada right then on the Jews. When I asked why he thought the Jews were the cause of that crisis, his answer was that since they were secretly in control of everything, this had to be their fault too.

This article is a much more refined, scholarly, intellectual, footnoted expression of the same deep belief.

So yes, Daniel Geery, I do "find antisemitism in it" because it reeks of it.

It is impossible respond without more specifics.

But even in regard to this one anecdotal example, that truly sounds like anti-semitism, can you further elaborate? Answer appreciated in advance.

Daniel, I don't have the time, the patience, nor, I'll freely admit, the scholarship to critique the article we're talking about in detail. To quote T, S. Eliot, it is " . . . a tedious argument of insidious intent." The intent is revealed in the last line of the piece. Read it. If you believe that Israel controls the world, you'll think what a convincing argument. Do you?

Robert, What is it called if one is turned in to indentured servants whose children will inherit the debt not only in material things but the cost to humans' Inalienable Rights, their' Commons, Treasure and the pursuit of happiness while forming a more perfect union? What would we call those who would form the conditions of this existence? What if one was anti-? Politicians and others who enable those that would impose this existence by profit, black mail, greed, murder (obviously these can be on a large scale including genocide) with all the negative impediments to forming a more perfect union?

We have a common enemy to all the positive ingredients of evolution on a scale that has tilted back and forth in balance. Do you believe aggressive governments who practice apartheid ethnic or class cleansing regardless of their religious denomination can be protected from what they do by "claiming" you are anti-their denomination for those acts sic. If they are as an enemy to the human race by word and deed cannot they be subject to such true criticism? If I was to criticize Israel for such practices am I an anti-semite? I say not! To cut to the chase, from my point of view:

Criticize the government or the state of Israel for its actions and policies, just as you might criticize the government of the US, or South Africa, or Saudi Arabia, or Russia, or any other government or state, fine.

Criticize AIPAC for its policies and the amount/impact of its lobbying, just as you might criticize the NRA or the Koch brothers, or big oil or big pharma, fine.

But make the kind of enormous sweeping generalizations found in the article that we're commenting on, e.g. that "the Jews" have some kind of magic powers that have let them form and carry out some secret, nefarious, grandiose, several-thousand year plan to control the world is (a) bull---- and (b) antisemitic. And so is believing that the government of Israel, or the state of Israel, or AIPAC, represents all Jews. As is the statement made many times in the article, and implied in your "treason from within" quote that American Jews have some kind of divided loyalty. If, like the French essayist we're responding to, you believe that, you should be willing to tell that to the face of the survivors of the 500,000 American Jews who fought in WWII.
