"Trump has . . . picked someone to run his Department of Labor who is tainted by the last Republican administration’s willful attempts to undermine civil rights protections and promote lies about voter fraud."
Despite his Islamophobic policies, Pres. Trump has appointed a "pro-diversity," highly experienced and high-profile attorney to head the Dept. of Labor in the wake of Andrew Puzdo's withdrawal.
But Acosta's three years as head of the Civil Rights division of the DoJ, as a G.W. Bush appointee, included toleration of policies favoring the voter ID requirement that Pres. DT is so fond of, and politicizing of the department by obstructing colleagues working to promote civil rights for all. Acosta did nothing until it was too late.
Acosta was also on the GOP side when the party was using caging tactics to purge voter rolls of likely Democratic voters in Ohio in 2004.
