DON'T MISS THE PHOTOS HERE: "The Arctic Refuge is an exceptionally wild, unspoiled land in Alaska that deserves the greatest protections possible. Often called the crown jewel of the refuge system, the Arctic refuge is  home to the most diverse array of wildlife within the Arctic Circle. But the  refuge harbors oil deposits under its surface, and for years, the oil industry and its advocates have lobbied to gain access to the coastal plain of the refuge. While conservationists have been successful at holding them off, the nation has yet to give the refuge the full protections needed to end this threat once and for all. The good news it that there are bills in Congress that would permanently protect the coastal plain of the Arctic Refuge as federally designated wilderness. Here are just some of the reasons those bills need to pass. "
