We’re doomed,” says Mayer Hillman with such a beaming smile that it takes a moment for the words to sink in. “The outcome is death, and it’s the end of most life on the planet because we’re so dependent on the burning of fossil fuels. There are no means of reversing the process which is melting the polar ice caps. And very few appear to be prepared to say so”... “With doom ahead, making a case for cycling as the primary mode of transport is almost irrelevant,” he says. “We’ve got to stop burning fossil fuels. So many aspects of life depend on fossil fuels, except for music and love and education and happiness. These things, which hardly use fossil fuels, are what we must focus on.”

In my run for U.S. Senate against Utah's Orrin Hatch, I posted many progressive ideas and principles that I internalized over the years. I'm leaving that site up indefinitely, since it describes what I believe most members of our species truly (more...)

My thanks to David Watts for bringing this to my attention in a recent comment. Major article on the most major event in the history of our species, and I would argue life on earth--or lack thereof.

Watching this coming for 35 years, trying to sound the alarm, seeing the failure of Gore's crusade, DeCaprio's campaign, fighting against psychotic fracking when we should have been stopping all fossil fuels has taught me this collective suicidal insanity is truly unstoppable.

We can however look forward to non-stop disaster weather excitement, constant praise of our heroic first responders and endless opportunities for "thoughts and prayers."

So true. Also, great bio!... tragedy that others haven't followed suit, to understate the case.

We've known this for several decades. Yet, we haven't done a thing. To have done a thing would mean our lives as being different. No oil, particularly. More than that, we need a deep look at our Soul, our psyche. What have WE done?

Don't blame it just on the politicians, its "We the People" that have fostered this. Granted, the oil companies and corporations in general are in this. But who supports them? Its us. At this point, we don't need to blame externals. We need to change.

To change, we might need to kick some backsides out of our lives, such as Trump. I would also say, "Corporations are NOT people." In the criminality of our culture, we need to bring to the likes of the Rothchilds, Trumps, Koch Brothers, etc to be indicted and placed in jail. But, will anybody do the real work of getting us past the horrors of what is happening and what will happen.

Or, do we sit on our backsides and continue eating our Burger King sandwich? The power is NOT in our politicians, its US.

Most of us seem to have a deep, pathological resistance to any big change until forced on us, lacking any true imagination to see things differently or will to act voluntarily. Germs were absurd before Pasteur. Flight was a joke before the Wright bros. Space travel was fantasy before Sputnik. And for 9/11 to be a deliberate false flag?? Unthinkable! As for climate change, ugh, too complicated, too far away, and Bill O'Rielly said God controls the weather...

But oh, how they'll scream, cry foul and blame when the electricity's gone, the food's gone, and they're trapped between the raging fires and the rising floods.
