Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif recently visited the Group of Seven (G7) at the invitation of French president Emmanuel Macron, in what was seen as an overture to the Trump administration to negotiate over sanctions that have plagued the Iranian economy. Back in 2018, after months of increasingly hostile rhetoric, the US government withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or “Iran Deal,” and imposed a “maximum pressure” campaign that included unilateral, economy-wide sanctions. The Iran Deal was an agreement that provided Iran relief from existing sanctions in exchange for limits on its enrichment of uranium, among other concessions.

Meanwhile, Michelle Bachelet, the UN’s shill in charge of Human Rights sees sanctions as not having an effect in Venezuela even though over 40,000 have died as a result since 2017.

Sanctions, like bombs, kill and should be considered as crimes against humanity. In Venezuela for one example sanctions kept innocent civilians from receiving medical supplies they needed and resulted in the death of over 40,000 since 2017. To make matters worse Michelle Bachelet, the United Nations' Chief Human Rights gerbil "investigated" the situation in Venezuela and catered to the United States by stating President Maduro was responsible as she completely ignored the sanctions the US had imposed on that nation, thus in a sense becoming an accomplice in those crimes and making the United Nations nothing more than a farce on protecting human rights across this planet.
