Trump’s DOJ is arguing in court that the impeachment investigation isn’t real, so they don’t have to comply with House Judiciary subpoenas. The DOJ is saying that since Speaker Pelosi said that they were not even close to an impeachment inquiry, there is no impeachment investigation, but Pelosi was correct, an official impeachment inquiry doesn’t start until there are articles of impeachment drafted. Trump’s DOJ is trying to split hairs and make a technical argument about the meaning of an impeachment investigation. It is a desperate move by a desperate administration that is trying to stall for as long as they can.

Even if Trump is impeached, he can still remain in office....like impeached Clinton. How's that going to help anything?

Impeachment would still leave Trump in office...as it did for Clinton.

Trump would just spin it as part of "witch hunt" and we'd be where we are now.

Impeachment is a ridiculous exercise whose only effect will give the media propagandists something to parrot about rather than anything of substance. The only thing will come of it is the re-election of Trump which will allow the Democrats to simply sit back, criticize, and collect their dollars from the bribing MIC, insurance industry, Big PhRMA, the fossil fuel industry, the NRA and a host of other special interest groups. Life is great to be do-nothing politician.

Apparently, Pelosi is letting Nadler "talk up impeachment" but obviously, Pelosi prefers "investigating"rather than "impeaching" Trump - for W Bush, however, she did not even bother to "investigate" him. For Pelosi, it seems to be all about the "political capital and favor" of the president, For Trump, exactly like she did for W Bush (#Nuremberg - #CrimeOfAggression), her strategy seems to be to "run out the clock" to the next election in her hope of a Democrat president win (Obama's health insurance for all, "just like congress has" - "too expensive" for Pelosi but W Bush's Iraq "Emergency War Funding" bills got her immediate approval as the number one top priority for her House and Reid's Senate).

Who knows? Maybe by the time Trump is almost finished his second term, there could be an impeachment. I guess if you look at it that way, it's not a complete exercise in futility.
