The Kurds have provided the best defense against ISIS and we have abandoned them in the face of Erdogan's determination to obliterate them. We need to 'refine our search' as it were, but that's nothing new about US military tactics. Ignorance about the true balance in the Middle East and around the topic of ISIS in particular; as we stomp around with our big feet, unable to discriminate, it would appear, between the actual good guys and the villains. We could start with the idea that we have no business interfering with whatever revolution holds sway there, but that would mean admitting our ignorance; and since we took the lid off the can with Iraq and further back with Iran, refining our role in Turkey is just more of the same as we refuse to take the word of the people there that we don't know what we're doing or why.
