Undersecretary for international trade, Stefan Selig wrote in his Washington Post LTE:
“no good deed goes unpunished” when a successful business executive takes a position in government.
“I sincerely hope this does not deter other private-sector leaders from serving their country,” the letter said
Congress should evaluate if successful business executives taking positions in government benefits the average American or their private-sector peers and themselves once they return to their former industries. In addition, how can these millionaires/billionaires working side by side with the average federal civil servant trying to scratch out a living not be a morale buster?
This incident should deter Congress from approving the most egregious crony capitalist from serving in government.
