Trump has accentuated a long-term US attitude: "It's my way or the highway."
Increasingly, up-and-coming powers are choosing the high way. There is intense investment from China in Africa and Western Asia. There is cooperation between China and Russia, Brazil and Indonesia, even such unlikely partners as China and India.
Gradually, the United States will become irrelevant, and Trump is doing all he can to hasten this process.
Here is the bottom line, the US wants control. China wants prosperity. The US policy is destined for failure unless cooler heads prevail.
