In a profound display of hubris, the Texas Board of Education voted March 12 to, among other things, demote Thomas Jefferson. The author of the Declaration of Independence, Founding Father, and the third President of the United States was removed from the state's public school social studies curriculum in favor of religious philosopher John Calvin.
