Susan Sarandon was on the Greek island of Lesbos over the holidays, welcoming refugees, and she answers questions about her experience, saying, 'I'm hoping that some of these images and stories will open some hearts that are thinking only of the political impact and not the human one.' Since Neolithic times, residents of Lesbos have worshipped Cybele, the great mother-goddess of Anatolia, so it is perhaps no accident to find Sarandon's nurturing presence there.
