The disparity illustrates the conflict of interest for lawmakers with donations come from industries with the most to lose from restricting sources of warming emissions.

The Green New Deal resolution by Ocasio-Cortez proposes legislation  to phase out fossil fuels, expanding access to high-wage jobs, union representation and health care to millions of Americans. It gained 70+ co-sponsors in the House and 12 Senators.

The Green New Deal seeks to deploy the U.S. economy to build lots of renewable electricity infrastructure and repair roads, bridges and seawalls to withstand extreme weather ― the kind of mobilization of resources that the U.S. has not seen since World War II.

Mitch McConnell vowed last week to hold a vote on the Green New Deal resolution to torpedo the movement behind the proposal; he has received nearly $3.1 million from fossil fuel donors throughout his career/
