A UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Initiative analysis shows Sanders won an majority of support from Latino voters in Iowa. According to the study, Sanders won 52% of the vote in 32 Latino locations, compared to just 15%/Biden, 14%/Buttigieg 11%/Warren. In the 12 majority-Latino caucus locations, Sanders won 67%, plus 40+ state delegates from majority-Latino caucus precincts.
His showing with Iowa Latinos gives confidence that organizing strategies will keep working in Nevada, California and Texas, states with large Latino electorates.
Sanders’ senior adviser Jeff Weaver said that campaign began reaching out to Latinos early on. “His own immigrant story connects with Latino voters.
