Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to comment on McMaster’s appointment Tuesday, but a prominent member of the Russian upper-parliament’s Defense and Security Committee warned that McMaster was a “100 percent hawk” who posed a threat to Russian interests. “Washington’s defense and intelligence wing will conduct Russophobic policies,” said Frants Klintsevich, as quoted by Russia’s state-run RIA news agency. [The one possible good I could see from Trump was good relations with Russia. But President Gutless caved in to the CIA, after tossing Flynn under the bus and realizing he was likely next.]
