Three studies in particular paint a stark picture of the extent to which the quality of our air can determine whether we will age with our minds intact. In one from 2018, researchers followed 130,000 older adults living in London for several years. Those exposed to higher levels of air pollutants, particularly nitrogen dioxide and fine particulate matter released by fossil fuel combustion, were significantly more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease—the most common kind of dementia—than their otherwise demographically matched peers. In total, Londoners exposed to the highest levels of air pollution were about one and a half times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s across the study period than their neighbors exposed to the lowest levels... a replication of previous findings from Taiwan, where air pollution levels are much higher.

I DON'T DOUBT THIS FOR A MINUTE. What would you expect from large scale CO (carbon monoxide), particulate matter, and toxic industrial effluents?

From Salt LakeCity, one of the three most polluted cities in the sttates. Thanks to Orin Hatch, Jake Garn, and about 1.5 million sheep, last I looked.

I should have said "sheeple" for clarity. There have been groups standing against this, including the Sierra Club -that I avidly worked for in the seventies--but overall the population lays down and says nothing.

There was a report back then that Jake Garn, flying into the SLC Airport and pointing to the pollution from the Kennecot smoke stacks said, "See that! That's money!"

T or F, it was 100 percent typical of most Utah politicians.

Daniel, that is not funny. Actually, after a quick thought, that is really funny. I think you are waving goodbye to the world. I could be wrong. Just a guess. :)

Long story behind that, but short answer is No. It is the countless things I love about the world, which we have been/are destroying that brings me down. The shirt my friend made in jest just seemed to fit here.

DA, I saw one reference and mean to look more in to it. When 5g is everywhere, is that when everyone will be chipped? I think 5g is the last piece of the puzzle before they pull the trigger. Total control is right around the corner... Just a thought.

The title includes a common mistake in reporting on scientific research, using the term "proof" instead of the appropriate term "evidence". The study's conclusions state that it found "evidence of a positive association". "Proof" is a much stronger term and rarely, if ever, applicable to study results.

Although this study focused on dementia, air pollution of various kinds is a known health hazard. Decades ago lead-containing additives were removed from gasoline after it was determined that lead uptake in children living near high traffic areas was causing damage. There may well have been other factors affecting the children, but the evidence against leaded gas was strong enough to justify action.

Good point. Evidence, preponderance of evidence, modicum of evidence, and proof, irrefutable proof, "tends to prove," and on and on, are things many folks tend to not grasp or else overlook.

Fossil fuel-powered cars and trucks are filth-spewing, health wrecking, climate-destroying death machines that corrupt our foreign policy and result in wars. Driving a car is like smoking a cigarette in an infant nursery.

Why so cheery? ☺

Seriously, that's pretty over-the-top. Unless you've gone off to live a hermit life in the woods somewhere, most of the essentials in your life, as well as the supportive comforts, rely on what you seem to despise.
