Republicans Struggle to Limit Defections Before Vote to Block Trump's Emergency

Republicans are uneasy with the president’s action, but few will declare their support for legislation overturning it.

Tillis R-NC became 2nd GOP Senator to support the Democratic resolution. “There is no intellectual honesty in now turning around and arguing that there’s an imaginary asterisk attached to executive overreach, that it’s acceptable for my party but not thy party” (in Washpo OpEd)

Collins R-ME will support resolution, barring extraneous additions. 

“I wish it wasn’t necessary” for Mr. Trump to have declared a national emergency, said John Cornyn, TX- Republican, arguing that issue could have been avoided if Dems had agreed to more funding for physical border barriers. “I think it’s a shame that what should be a nonpartisan issue has turned into a very partisan issue”
