Pocan, representing Madison, the 1st Democrat in WI’s congressional delegation to endorse, is endorsing Sanders, helping him in the battleground state 3 months before primary because Sanders had a strong connection to his beliefs and the best chance of winning. “Not only do families connect very strongly with Bernie Sanders, electability is very important. Chairing Sanders’ WI campaign, he is co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Sanders carried all but one of WI’s 72 counties in 2016, defeating Hillary Clinton by 13 points. Clinton lost to Trump in WI by less than 23,000 votes.
Pocan said he will put his knowledge of the state to work for Sanders immediately, as well as campaign for him in states with earlier, upcoming primaries.
