Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, his office announced Sunday. He is the first senator known to have tested positive for the virus. “Senator Rand Paul has tested positive for COVID-19. He is feeling fine and is in quarantine,” said a tweet sent from his account. “He is asymptomatic and was tested out of an abundance of caution due to his extensive travel and events. He was not aware of any direct contact with any infected person.”

All the people testing positive and asymptomatic makes me wonder--- is the test reliable--- is the virus so much more deadly than seasonal flu which kills approximately 50,000 Americans every year.

P.S. The flu deaths would probably be half as many if the US had a proper universal healthcare system. Instead of the exploitive private for profit system, which is heavily subsidized by taxpayer money and government benefits. None of which are passed on to the consumers.

I was in the VA Clinic on Friday and they didn't seem worried about this at all.

No questions, no temperature check when I walked in.....nothing. Even the intake male nurse who took BP, etc gave the trump line of, "50K people die every year from regular flu."

They did ask questions on the phone when I made the appointment, but not in person.

Symptoms could have presented during the week in between.
