Community solar transcends political ideology. Rather than spending tax dollars for a transition to clean energy, it unleashes market power to do it, eliminating outdated regulations preventing residents from generating clean energy.

Gov. Lujan Grisham is right to champion a NM Renewable Portfolio Standard~setting clear and responsible goals for procuring sustainable energy. To meet these goals, we need a ramp-up in residential and commercial solar. Community solar is essential to complement rooftop solar and utility-scale solar.

Together as mayors, we represent 40 percent of NM's population; the evidence is clear: Community solar is a win-win for our economy and our environment. New legislation would unlock New Mexico’s potential for prosperity and innovation by unlocking access to the mightiest resource, the power of the sun.
