Pew Research presents charts and data showing the disturbing extent to which political views have become more  polarized in America.  The details are interesting.    Republican politicians especially have moved far to the right.   Republican voters moved to the left (!) during the Bush years, then back to the right during Obama's presidency.  On social issues, the country as a whole has moved to the left.  On economic issues, there is a large divide between liberals and conservatives.
