Placing a felon sex offender with the developmentally disabled is a recipe for disaster

"I can’t understand how a convicted felon, who was able to be sentenced and serve time in a maximum-security state prison (for third-degree rape) , could also be placed in a (New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities) state facility with vulnerable entities,” Murphy wrote. The facility houses at least one adult with capacities of an 8-year-old.  Michael Carey,  advocate for the disabled, filed a complaint with the agency, claiming the placement would illegally endanger the residents of the home. “It’s illegal..." Carey said “...they are trying to put sex offenders in homes with people who are like children.” The placement has been halted, at least temporarily. Michael Carey is founder of the Jonathan Carey Foundation.
