North Korea slams talks with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

The North Korean Foreign Ministry on Saturday slammed two days of talks with visiting Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as 'regrettable' and accused the U.S. of unilateral demands of denuclearization. It was Pompeo's third trip to Pyongyang since April and his first since last month’s historic summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Pompeo was meeting Kim Yong Chol, a senior ruling party official. Just before Pompeo’s arrival, the North’s state-run media slammed Washington over its criticism of the North’s human rights record. The criticism, published on North Korea’s government-run Uriminzokkiri website, said Washington should stop provoking the North with an “anachronistic human rights racket” at a time of diplomatic attempts to improve ties.
